Brian Walshe, the husband of a Massachusetts woman who has been missing since New Year’s Day, has been charged in her murder, the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office announced Tuesday.
What’s new: Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey issued an arrest warrant charging Walshe, 47, with his wife’s murder on Tuesday. Morrissey said Walshe is expected to be arraigned on the charge Wednesday morning and the details that lead to the charge “will likely be disclosed at arraignment.”
More on the case: The warrant comes more than two weeks after Brian Walshe’s wife, Ana Walshe, a 39-year-old mother of three young boys, was last seen on New Year’s Day and was reported missing a few days later. Her body has not been found.
Catch up: Walshe is already in jail after he was charged last week with allegedly misleading police in their investigation of the disappearance of his wife. Walshe violated his bail on a federal fraud conviction when he withheld information from police, has pleaded not guilty and is being held on $500,000 bail.
Who is Ana Walshe?
Ana Walshe, a mother of three young children, was last seen by a family member in her home in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Walshe was supposed to take a ride-hailing service to Logan International Airport for a flight to Washington, D.C., where she worked for D.C.-based real estate company Tishman Speyer, but authorities said there is no evidence she ever got into a vehicle or on a flight.
Police discovered several items at a Boston-area trash processing facility last week as part of their investigation, authorities said.
Who is Brian Walshe?
Last week, police investigating the disappearance of Ana Walshe discovered a bloody knife in the basement of the home she shared with her husband. Prosecutors also said Walshe didn’t tell investigators he had spent hundreds of dollars on cleaning supplies at stores after his wife disappeared.
Walshe is on probation pending sentencing in a 2021 wire fraud case in which he was convicted of selling fraudulent Andy Warhol paintings.
